You do not have to wait months to pass your driving test.
Solihull Driver Trainers can organise a driving course for you, that will get you through your driving test in about 6 to 8 weeks, sometimes even sooner.
The actual timescale depends on:
- Waiting times for tests
- Theory test waiting times usually average about 2 weeks
- Practical driving test waiting times usually average about 6 weeks
- How soon you can be ready for a driving test
- Our Intensive Driving Courses and Semi Intensive Driving Courses can prepare you for a driving test in a short time scale
How Can I Pass My Driving Test in 6 to 8 Weeks?
An Solihull Driver Trainers driving instructor will firstly assess your current driving ability.
Your driving instructor will then discuss with you and advise you on the length and type of course required to prepare you for your driving test.
Solihull Driver Trainers will then organise your driving test appointment, and plan your driving course with you.
Your course can either be an Intensive Driving Course, or a Semi Intensive Driving Course.
An Intensive Driving Course is organised as an all day type of course, usually 9.00am to 3.00pm, on consecutive days, with your driving test organised on the final day.
Intensive Driving Courses may be between 3 and 10 days duration, depending on your current driving ability.
A Semi Intensive Driving Course is organised as a planned course of driving lessons over the 6 to 8 weeks leading up to your driving test appointment.
Driving lessons may be 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 hours duration, and their frequency will depend on your current ability.
An Intensive Driving Course, and a Semi Intensive Driving Course could both have the driving test appointment on exactly the same date, the difference is in how the training is structured in the time leading up to the driving test appointment.
Time Scales
The 6 week time scale is based on:
- Having already passed the theory test
- An average 6 week wait for a practical driving test appointment.
The 8 week time scale is based on:
- An average 2 week wait for a theory test appointment
- An average 6 week wait for a practical driving test appointment.
These time scales are approximate, and sometimes may be longer or shorter.
To be ready for your driving test in the 6 or 8 weeks timescale is dependant on you being available to fit in the required amount of training.
If your availability is restricted, we can still organise a course for you, but it may take a little longer.

All Semi Intensive Driving Courses can be paid for lesson by lesson at £32.00 per hour in a manual car or £36.00 per hour in an automatic car.
All semi intensive driving courses include a 3 hour allowance for the use of the car on the day of the driving test.
e.g. A 20 hour course is 17 hours driving tuition, and 3 hours use of car for driving test.
Driving Test Fees
Theory and Practical Driving Test Fees are set by, and are payable to The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
We can book your Theory and Practical Driving Test for you, if you require, this is offered as a free service for customers of Solihull Driver Trainers Driving School.
(If we book a practical driving test for you and you then decide to use another driving school but want to retain the driving test appointment we will charge an administration fee.)

Your Driving Test is arranged for the afternoon of the final day of the intensive driving course.
There will sometimes be reasons to have an Intensive Driving Course, without a driving test on the final day, for example you might want to use an intensive driving course to give you a headstart in learning to drive with further tuition and a driving test planned later.
